A former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Prince Afolabi Ghandi Laoye, has been officially appointed as the voice of Ogbomoso land.
The Broad News recalls that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of an American businessman, Prince Afolabi Olaoye, as the new sound of Ogbomosoland.
But on September 7, Justice K.A Adedokuni, in a court order, ordered the state governor and others not to present Prince Olaoye with any official document during his inauguration ceremony.
The ruling further restrained Prince Olaoye from assuming any role or representation as the ringer of Ogbomoso or participating in any related ceremonial activities pending the completion of the pending mandatory injunction proceedings in court.
Despite this legal arrangement, the installation of Prince Olaoye took place under the leadership of Ogbomosho Abata, spearheads of the kings responsible for selecting the sound of Ogbomoso.
The Head of King Makers, Ogbomoso Areago, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin presided over the installation.
Laoye arrived in Ogbomoso on Friday morning in a private helicopter which landed at Ogbomoso High School before going to the palace for the event.
It should be noted that the kingmakers overseeing the installation of Prince Olaoye have confirmed that they have not received any order from the court to prevent them from carrying out the installation rites, Daily Post reports.
However, according to The Nation, the enthronement defeated the order because it happened before the order could be handed over to the parties.
The new Oba is proclaimed His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.
